Bandai Namco Delays Code Vein To 2019 To Exceed Fan Expectations

Bandai Namco announced back on June 6th that Code Vein would launch worldwide for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 28th. Well, as of today, the company has announced the delay of Code Vein from its previously planned Q4 2018 release to 2019.

Although Bandai Namco will delay Code Vein from 2018 to 2019, some fans believe that this is a good move in that September is a crowded month. The company, however, has a different opinion on why they delayed Code Vein.

According to Hervé Hoerdt, the Vice President of Marketing and Digital at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, he had the following to say about the recent action to delay Code Vein to next year:

Bandai Namco Europe

“Code Vein has received an enormous amount of positive feedback from eager fans who have received hands-on time with in-development versions of the game over the past nine months. Armed with knowledge of how well the game has already been received, we made the decision to postpone the release of Code Vein to further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title. It was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it is the correct one.”

In other words, Hoerdt believes that fans who went hands-on with the game enjoyed it, but Bandai Namco wanted to improve the game to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title.

But that’s not all, Rainel Tan, General Manager at Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia, had the following to say about the delay and why the decision was made:

Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia

“We are thankful to Code Vein fans for giving us a huge positive feedback on the development versions of the game for the past months, as a result of the overwhelming support from the fans, we decided to postpone the release of Code Vein to further refine the game and hope to exceed fans’ expectation. It is a difficult decision, but we hope that once the fans gets to play the final version, they will agree with us that this decision is a right one!”

Worded very similar to Hoerdt’s statement, but Tan wants the game to exceed expectations already set by fans, meaning that we’ll have to wait and see how things pan out in the next promotional campaign for Code Vein and if it will bring better content.

And lastly, an official statement by Bandai Namco explaining the reasoning behind the delay, again, can be read over below:

“Throughout its pre-release promotion campaign, Code Vein has consistently garnered positive reactions from both media and consumers alike. With this knowledge in-hand, Bandai Namco Inc. has made the decision to dedicate additional time to further develop Code Vein; ensuring the final product delivers on the expectations set amongst media and fans.”

I’m a little concerned about Bandai Namco trying to meet the “expectations set amongst media,” but will see how that turns out near launch day. Anyway, you can expect Bandai Namco to drop Code Vein sometime in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
