Dead Cells Exits Early Access And Launches On Nintendo Switch, PS4, PC August 7th

French gaming studio, Motion Twin, announced that their side-scrolling Metroidvania, Dead Cells, will graduate from Early Access starting August 7th for $24.99. The game coming out of Early Access will also coincide with its launch on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.

A limited edition physical version of the game will also be available from Signature Edition Games. You’ll be able to purchase the physical version of Dead Cells for the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4. Both versions come with a physical boxed copy of the game, a double CD soundtrack pack, a 56-page hardback art book, an exclusive enamel character pin, autographs from the Motion Twin developers, and an outer box featuring exclusive artwork with a glossy finish.

Dead Cells - Signature Edition

Pre-orders for the Dead Cells: Signature Edition have gone live right now over on the Signature Edition website.

Dead Cells has really taken off in popularity since entering into Early Access last year. The game mixes in the use of procedurally generated levels with hand-crafted tiles and rooms. The idea is to make sure that the game feels different every time you play, but that the levels feel immersive and engrossing as if special care was taken to make them. Motion Twin used a similar design methodology as Digital Extremes did for the levels in Warframe. This was so that you can get the best of both worlds: intimately made levels that are always random in some way.

You can see what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

The developers (and gamers) have described it as “tough but fair” when it comes to the combat, as players will be able to dodge, roll and utilize a variety of different weapons and attacks to overcome foes.

The non-linear level design and permadeath feature means that you have to play smart and tactical without being reckless.

Dead Cells sports 13 levels in total, four bosses to defeat, 80 weapons, four special powers, and a special mode for Steam and GOG.com users called the Daily Run Mode.

The popularity of the game during Early Access led to a lot of console gamers wanting to get their hands on it. Earlier this year back in January of 2018, Motion Twin announced that Dead Cells would be making the leap to the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Now we know that the game will graduate from Early Access and launch in full on August 7th next month for $24.99.
