Fallout 76 Features A New Perk Card System

It looks like Bethesda will be doing some things differently with Fallout 76, whilst adding new things like Perk Cards. Additionally, the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system is reported to be revised for a multiplayer environment, too.

Website VGR wrote up a report regarding Fallout 76 — Bethesda Game Studio’s upcoming online Fallout title — leveling, perks, and S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. If you want to know more about this game, hopefully, you’ll find it here.

Firstly, fans of the Fallout series will find that Fallout 76 will keep the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system, which means Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck will stick around.

Moreover, the site reads that the game has it where you’ll earn EXP and levels by doing things you would usually do. After a level, you will earn a perk point. However, the way that you spend perk points in Fallout 76 is different from that of Fallout 4.

You will be able to spend each perk in one of the seven S.P.E.C.I.A.L. categories. Instead of choosing a perk from a chart, the game will display three Perk Cards. Each card, with a max rank of three, offers a different perk, but you can only pick from one card, though.

Furthermore, instead of having permanent access to all perks that you’ve invested in, you will have a limited number of card slots. You can assign any Perk Card you’ve upgraded in one of these slots if you want to benefit from it.

It’s worth noting that you can’t use all of your Perk Cards at the same time, but you can rotate them whenever.

It’s unclear how this system will work in action with multiple people scavaging around West Virginia, but I’m sure the beta will give potential players and leery folks an idea.

As it stands now, the beta can only be accessed if you pre-order the game, so if you are into pre-ordering games and don’t mind waiting for Bethesda to reveal the crash course date, you will then gain access to the mysterious beta.

Lastly, you can look for the actual game to land late this year on November 14th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
