Let’s Talk About Nokia’s 6.1 Mid-Range Smartphone

The company officially launched its Nokia 6.1 smartphone in the United States in early 2018. This mid-range unlocked GSM runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. If you’re looking for an affordable solid built smartphone that offers some bells and whistles without breaking the bank, you might be interested in what this device has to offer.

According to Nokia’s website, the Android One handset is priced at $270; it’s made from the solid block 6000 series aluminum. Its slim but solid rectangular shape design allows for the device to be able to stand-up alone because of the flat surfaces around the outer perimeter of the phone. The Nokia 6.1 stands at 5.5 – inches with front Corning Gorilla Glass 3, rear fingerprint sensor, dual SIM Nano-SIM, and offers HD 1080 x 1920 pixels IPS LCD touchscreen 16M colors.

The beautiful solid black casing has a vibrant rich coffee trim around certain parts of the handset, giving the Nokia 6.1 an elegant look. For those who aren’t ready to give up the jack headphone slot, you won’t have to with this device, at the top of the device a 3.5mm slot awaits the headphones. Two speakers sit at the lower front part of the phone.

The hardware platform features include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, ( note- some reviews state 3GB others state 4GB, I believe it depends on which country the device is manufactured for.) The CPU- Octa-core 2.2 GHz Cortex A53, with a GPU Adreno 508. The battery is a 3000 mAh, which is said to last up to a day with average talk, video, and picture taking. The USB type -C allows for quick 50% charging in 30 minutes. This Nokia 6.1 is not waterproof, so you might want to keep it away from any form of submerging.

The Nokia 6.1 offers a ZEISS optics 16mp main camera, with f/2 dual tone-flash, and a 8mp front facing camera with f/2 FOV 84. This handset offers a nice feature of dual sight mode as well.
