Revival Productions’ Overload is the spiritual successor to Descent. It’s a 6DOF kind of game, known as six-degrees of freedom. You freely fly about within cavernous levels with future-techno designs and free space-style mining motifs as you blast down 20 different types of robots and tackle three different bosses across 15 different levels. Obviously, a game like this will prove to be challenge for even the most ardent of gamers, but thankfully there are some cheats that you can acquire to help make life a little easier in the subterranean caverns filled with killer robots.
The first cheat trainer can be acquired for free by downloading it from the MegaDev.info page.
The Overload trainer contains the following cheats:
- +10 Experience Points
- +1 Upgrade Point
- Reset Upgrade Points to 0
- +50 Experience Points
- +5 Upgrade Points
- +1 Super Upgrade Point
- Reset Super Upgrade Points To 0
- Infinite Energy/Ammo
- Infinite Missiles
- +100 Experience Points
- +10 Upgrade Points
- +5 Super Upgrade Points
- God Mode
- +10 Super Upgrade Points
- Cloak Mode
The most useful cheats for those of you who simply want to cheese your way through the game will likely be the god mode, cloak mode, and infinite ammo. The first one makes sure you don’t die; the second one makes sure that enemies don’t see you; and the third one lets you blast down enemies without ever running out of ammo.
There’s also a second cheat trainer available from over on Cheat Happens.
The Cheat Happens trainer for Overload is a premium trainer and contains the following cheats:
- No Damage
- Weapons Can Fire
- Missiles Can Fire
- Easy XP Gain
- Upgrade Points
- Super Upgrade Points
The premium cheats are all pretty basic, without any of the hardcore mode style options to debilitate your skill and force you to have to utilize some ridiculous abilities in order to beat the game.
As for the game itself, Overload features a single-player campaign with a story written by the writer from Freespace 2. It features a soundtrack by Dan Wentz and Allister Brimble from the original Descent games. Along with more than a dozen challenge levels in addition to the 15 levels included in the single-player story campaign.
A multiplayer mode is also available with up to eight players via PvP and customizable ships, visuals and loadouts, all of which can be used across 10 different levels. There is also ranked, casual and private match options.
You can play the game with a keyboard and mouse, joystick gamepad, or even via VR with support for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. For more info feel free to check out the Steam store page, where Overload is available for $29.99.
