Phantom Doctrine To Release On PC, PS4, And Xbox One On August 14th

Originally showcased during E3 2018, Phantom Doctrine — by Good Shepherd Entertainment and CreativeForge Games — will launch across PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 14th, 2018.

Sporting an updated Steam and GOG page, Phantom Doctrine will run for $39.99 on PC and home consoles and, as of recent, features the following description and newly posted trailer on said pages:

“Phantom Doctrine is a strategic turn-based espionage thriller set at the peak of the Cold War. Drawing on a wide variety of influences and capturing the subtle intrigue of classic spy films, the game thrust the player into a mysterious world of covert operations, counterintelligence, conspiracy and paranoia.”

If the above trailer didn’t offer up a clear picture as to what Phantom Doctrine has to offer, the game at its core flaunts “a deep single-player story campaign” that runs close to 40+ hours.

At its heart, the game is a turn-based strategy title that offers unprecedented flexibility and actions, including changeable oversight modes and assault-oriented breach abilities. Imagine XCOM meets Splinter Cell played from an isometric perspective.

Furthermore, you can take charge or recruit from both the KGB and the CIA or utilize the unique talents of subjects of secret government experiments.

In addition to the above, you can secure weapons, resources, and contacts around the globe, opting for commands to be dished out from afar. Contrary to that, you can get up close and personal and go guns blazing or play things safe in the shadows as either a former KGB counterintelligence operative or a renegade CIA wet work commando.

Complete the campaign, and you’ll be rewarded with an additional protagonist via “Extended Playthrough.” But, if single-player campaigns aren’t your thing, Phantom Doctrine features multiplayer modes, too. You can either conduct or experience the deviousness and lethality of the game’s core mechanics in 1 Vs. 1 skirmishes.

And lastly, the option to fully customize characters through the “operative creation system” is a thing. In other words, you can give your operative a new identity; change their appearance, alter their documents, train them in deadly combat arts and cunningly place them back on the field to complete any mission at hand.

Again, Phantom Doctrine will make its debut on PC via Steam and GOG, PS4, and Xbox One on August 14th.
