Samsung recently released an updated version of it’s 2nd generation Gear IconX 2018 wireless earbuds back in April of this year. The company did some tweaks to bring about a more enhanced user friendly set of earbuds. They were also recently discounted during the Amazon Prime Day deals, according to Android Headlines.

Samsung’s new design has brought new colors for the Gear IconX 2018, now in Black, Pink and Gray. The company also decided to make listening to music on the earbuds more personal by allowing the user the ability to customize their listening experience with the ability to streamline the their favorite music, another new feature is the Equalizer, this feature can quickly and easily adjust their audio frequency to optimal levels by choosing one of the five- Bass, Boost, Soft, Dynamic, Clear and Treble Boost.

Samsung has included 4GB of built-in storage in the Gear IconX for standalone music playback, the earbuds can store up to 1,000 songs, great during workouts, without dragging along a handset device. Music can be transferred from a Samsung smartphone or by using a PC.

Samsung also decided to make the earbuds and the charging case smaller, the update also unfortunately brought a change in removing the heart-rate monitor, but the extra space allowed for a larger battery.The old battery size was a 47mAh, and the new battery is a 82mAh battery. With the improved battery life users can expect up to 5-hours battery life, with an additional 1-hour while in the charging case for at least 10 minutes.

Additional new features include tracking fitness activities, talking via Bluetooth or listening to music. Another update includes having the buttons removed on the earbuds, instead just tap and/or swipe to maneuver around the desire feature, a locking mechanism when the case is in closed position, and a more durable plastic charging case.

The Gear IconX 2018 is reported to be resistant against light water and sweat exposure, the charging port is USB-C and for a full charge it takes 5-hours. The updated IconX 2018 are said to be more secure and comforable to wear and workout in. The Gear IconX 2018 cost $200 in the U.S. and can be purchased at most in-store and on-line retail stores.

According to most reviews such as CNET, the Samsung Gear IconX 2018 earbuds has an overall rating of 7.3 out of 10. These earbuds are considered one of the best, especially when paired with a Galaxy device.
