Capcom Expects To Explore Their Older IPs Through Future Remakes And Re-Releases

Capcom revealed Resident Evil 2 (2019) at E3 2018, which is set to release in Q1 2019. According to the company’s latest financial report, it seems that Capcom expects to follow up on remakes and re-releases later down the line due to Resident Evil 2 reception at the June event.

According to its investor report, which can be found by hitting up capcom.co.jp/ir, the company was asked about Resident Evil 2′s “expected sales” and the likelihood of “other remakes.”

Capcom responded that it expects Resident Evil 2 to be one of its “major releases for this fiscal year” and for it to be in the “million-seller” range. The company also answered the second question about remakes with the following:

“Further, regarding remakes and re-releases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP.”

If you don’t know, back on December 29th and 30th, 2017, Capcom showed interest in making new games based on two older titles under its portfolio. The two games happen to be that of Dino Crisis, and Onimusha.
