It looks like Guilty Gear fans might have something new to look forward to in the coming weeks or months as a new announcement related to said series has been made at EVO 2018. The announcement of a new Guilty Gear game was disclosed by Arc System Works CEO Minoru Kidooka.
Catching wind from publication site Gematsu, we learn that Arc System Works CEO, Kidooka, has come forth at EVO 2018 to reveal that Guilty Gear director, Daisuke Ishiwatari, couldn’t show up because he’s working on a new installment in the series.
In addition to the above, Kidooka spoke on stage following the Guilty Gear Xrd: Rev 2 finals, where he said that fans should wait a little longer for new information pertaining to this new game, which means that info could pop up in a few weeks or a few months’ time.
With all of that said, you can read what the CEO had to say at the event right here:
“Unfortunately, Guilty Gear director Daisuke Ishiwatari couldn’t be here today, but he is hard at work on a new Guilty Gear title, and while we can’t show it to you today, please wait a little longer.”
I do wonder if the team will keep with the design that is seen in the latest Guilty Gear game moving forward, or will they try to pander to a crowd that doesn’t play the series all that much (if at all) by trying to make the characters more “realistic” and less “sexualized”?
Hopefully, Arc System Works really considers their fanbase (the ones who actually play and buy their games) and opts for a model that’s not heavy on DLC packs when the next installment drops — which is expected to release two years from now.
Anyway, what do you think of Arc System Works making a new Guilty Gear game?
