Samsung Introduces Wireless Charging Duo Bixby 2.0 And The Galaxy Home

Samsung’s 2018 Unpacked Event was full of new introductions to the company’s new line of smartphones, wearables, electronic devices, and software updates. Samsung introduced its Samsung Wireless Charging Duo during its Unpacked Event August 9th.

According to The Verge, the wireless charging pad seem to be designed for the new Samsung Note 9 and the new Samsung Galaxy Watch. The Wireless Charging Duo has two charging pads, which can charge both a smartwatch and smartphone at the same time, one side with a supportive prop for charging a smartphone, and the other side for charging a smartwatch.

The Charging Duo has 12W of charging power, USB-C port, and a cooling system to keep everything nice and cool during the charging stages. There are three light indicators — red, green and orange —  each indicator lets you know the status of the charging stage for each device. The fast wireless charging stand allows for the smartphone to be placed in either upright or horizontal position. The Samsung Wireless Charging Duo comes in the color black or white, and retails for $119.99.

Samsung also presented its updated virtual assistant Bixby 2.0, which was developed by Samsung Electronics. Bixby was announced March 2017 and released in October 2017. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be the first smartphone that will arrive with the updated Bixby 2.0 out of the box.

Bixby 2.0 also has a few new skills, it now has the ability to search for nearby and upcoming events, make restaurant reservations, and order Uber rides. Bixby 2.0 paired with Google assistant can provide the best results, the virtual assistant can also be used without even touching your device for most voice commands.

Samsung’s Galaxy Home smart speaker featuring Bixby was also introduced, it has eight far-field microphones, six built -in speakers and a subwoofer. To activate it, of course, just say “Hey Bixby” it has three prong legs with a round black mesh covering the smart speaker. At this time, limited information is given on the Galaxy Home smart speaker, reports state that Samsung will reveal more information about the release date and retail price at a later date this year.
