The Dark Pictures Horror Anthology Starts In 2019 With Man Of Medan

Supermassive Games, the makers of Until Dawn and Hidden Agenda, announced that their next big title is going to be published by Bandai Namco Games, and it’s actually a horror anthology series that will supposedly cover 39 different sub-genres of horror. The anthology is known as The Dark Pictures and it will start with a horror game called Man of Medan, scheduled to launch in 2019.

Unlike other titles from Supermassive Games, The Dark Pictures will be multiplatform, spanning the likes of the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Now like other titles from Supermassive Games, it will retain the choice-driven narrative where the player’s decisions will determine who lives and who dies. According to the PlayStation Blog, the first entry in the series, Man of Medan, centers around a deep dive exploration off the South Pacific, as a group of four divers explore a World War II wreckage with a ghostly secret. You can check out the trailer for the game below.

The story gets tense when the explorers find themselves trapped on the ghost ship after a storm rolls in, and the dark secrets of the past begin to emerge.

The CEO and executive producer of Supermassive, Pete Samuels, mentioned that Man of Medan offers more choice than any previous game they’ve made…

“In fact there is more branching in Man of Medan than any of our previous games. There are multiple endings and multiple scenarios based on the decisions you make in the game. Be careful though as all the playable characters can live, and any and all of them can die, depending on the choices you make.”

There’s no time frame on how long the gap will be between each release within The Dark Pictures series, but I’m guessing they’re going to be like miniature stories with a lot of branching endings and outcomes?

The series is due to start in 2019, so you’ll have to wait a year before you get your hands on it.
