One of my favorites series of games just might come back through THQ Nordic and its subsidiary Koch Media: TimeSplitters. The former company has announced the acquisition of Intellectual Properties (IPs) TimeSplitters and Second Sight. The announcement of said move was disclosed on August 15th, 2018.
Folks looking to see the TimeSplitters series re-emerge or Second Sight game make a comeback just might, sooner than later, through publisher THQ Nordic. The following notice explaining said action can be found on news.cision.com:
“Timesplitters was largely considered as one of the most influential console games of the early 2000’s. The three game series earned a large and passionate fan base thanks to its unique humour, art style and pop culture references while encouraging customization and modification to give each person their own individual experience. Timesplitters was originally created by the development studio Free Radical Design that later become Deep Silver Dambuster, part of the THQ Nordic group.”
And being apart of that “large and passionate fan base” is yours truly, who managed to platinum the heck out of the latter two TimeSplitters games — especially Future Perfect.
Furthermore, fans of Second Sight might see the return of John Vattic, a psychic who attempts to escape a U.S. medical facility through a combination of PSI action and stealth tactics:
“In addition to Timesplitters, the IP and the rights to science fiction action-adventure game Second Sight were acquired. Both acquisitions were made through THQ Nordic’s fully owned subsidiary Koch Media GmbH.”
Hopefully, fans of TimeSplitters will be able to enjoy the wacky, sexy, and abundance of playable/unlockable characters that the series had to offer without having to go through loot-boxes, microtransactions or censorship.
Anyway, if you have no idea what TimeSplitters or Second Sight looks like, you can check out TimeSplitters: Future Perfect stage “Breaking and Entering” and Second Sight’s first stage “Isolation” right here:
