Torchlight Frontiers, Persistent Multiplayer ARPG Heads To PC, PS4, Xbox One In 2019

Echtra Games and Perfect World Entertainment announced that Torchlight Frontiers is scheduled to release next year in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game was revealed with a minute long trailer outlining the various enemies that players will face off against, including zombies, goblins, and scavengers.

The trailer doesn’t contain any actual gameplay, but the description on the page stats that players will partake in a shared-world RPG experience. The game will combine the traditional Torchlight experience with an MMO-style theme park adventure.

You can check out the diversity-ridden announcement trailer below.

The game is described as a persistent and shared world where players will team up with friends to take on quests. You brave through dungeons, take on hordes, and scour ruins for loot and new gear.

According to MMORPG, the game is being headed up by former Runic Games and Blizzard North co-founder, Max Schaefer.

Max Schaefer, CEO of Echtra Games, explained in the press release…

“Evolving the Torchlight universe into a shared world has always been a goal for the franchise, and I’m excited that we’re finally able to make it a reality,”

“Torchlight Frontiers will be a living, breathing universe that will still feel uniquely Torchlight, while we add our own creative spin to the game. The team is building something truly special, and we can’t wait for fans to play it for the first time at Gamescom and PAX West.”

While the game may be on display for the very first time at GamesCom and later at PAX West, you won’t be able to play it within the confines of your own abode until 2019.

Hopefully things work out better for Echtra Games than it did for Runic Games, which was shut down by Perfect World in November of 2017.

I suppose if things don’t work out for Torchlight Frontiers, Perfect World won’t hesitate to pull the plug on the project… just like they did before.

You can sign up for the beta over on the official Torchlight Frontiers website.
