Marvelous Entertainment recently announced that UPPERS is set to make its way Westward for PS4 and on Steam for PC. The 3D beat-’em-up game has already been out and available in Japan for some years for the PS Vita, but the Western release won’t see the light of day on the PS Vita due to Sony’s dwindling support for the system. It’s basically like a mix between Yakuza, River City Ransom and Senran Kagura. Well, some gamers in the community took it upon themselves to provide an unofficial English translation for the PS Vita version and the dozen or so gamers who still play on Sony’s handheld.
The rar file contains the instructions on how to unpack and install the translation, along with being able to make use of the bonus DLC that has also been translated for the game.
In case you need a refresher on what the PS Vita version of the game looks like, you can check out the original trailer below.
The game actually looks pretty cool, though. The beat-’em-up action is solid and fast-paced, and the characters are all stylized to keep the entertainment values high.
If you still have a PS Vita and it’s modded, you should be able to grab the English patch and play the PS Vita version without fail.
Now if you don’t have a PS Vita, and you aren’t into the whole patching scene, you can still get your fill of UPPERS thanks to the game making its way to the PS4 and Steam in the West. There’s no exact date for the game’s release, but they did mention that it was coming soon in the new trailer.
According to Operation Rainfall the game will feature 13 playable characters, 1080p resolution support and 60 frames-per second. As you can see from the video above, the graphics have been remastered, with higher resolution textures and full localization support for English, French, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin.
Gamers living in Europe will be able to get their hands on the title both digitally and physically courtesy of PQube, assuming Sony doesn’t ball-block them the way they did Omega Labyrinth Z. As mentioned, you can look for UPPERS to drop later this year for PS4 and Steam, courtesy of Marvelous Entertainment and Honey Parade Games.
