LawBreakers Officially Shuts Down As Of September 14th

It looks like the now-defunct Boss Key Productions will see its product LawBreakers join it in the grave given that September 14th, 2018, marks the date when the game officially shut down.

Remnants of the dead company that is Boss Key Productions still floats around in the form of Radical Heights, but beyond that the company is little more than vapor. That abomination was the last remnant of the dead company since LawBreakers will see no more support from here on out.

If you don’t know why LawBreakers is going away, an older letter explaining the situation behind the poorly received title can be read over here:

“Dear LawBreakers,

In light of the unfortunate news regarding Boss Key Productions shutting down, we regret to announce that we will be sunsetting our support of LawBreakers on September 14, 2018 as we are not able to operate the game.

Our servers will remain open until then and the game will be made free-to-play on Steam for all players effective immediately. Please note that any and all new in-game purchases will also be disabled and we will not be able to accept any refund requests.

We truly appreciate your understanding in this difficult time and we want to thank you all your support and being a part of the passionate LawBreakers community.

Thank you for staying with us throughout this journey.

-The LawBreakers Team”

The August 8th, 2017, PC and PS4 game is said to have died out to the big bad indie monster PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Nexon, the publisher of LawBreakers, claimed in a Q3 2017 investor report that LawBreakers faced an unfortunate crawl in concurrent players and sales due to the battle royale game:

“Our results in North America in the third quarter were below our outlook, mainly due to the sales from LawBreakers being below our expectations. LawBreakers is a unique FPS developed for core users”.

The letter continued that…

“We had very high expectations for its launch; however, the timing of its launch turned out to be unfortunate, specifically the blockbuster PC online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds came out right about the same time, making the market environment very tough for first-person shooters in general and for LawBreakers.”

Nexon did not disclose the exact amount of money lost due to Lawbreakers, but the company did note that it accounts for the majority of their Q3 2017 expenses, which is said to sit around $32.6 million.

Finally, LawBreakers is no longer receiving support, meaning that you can press “F” to pay respect /s.
