Seven Sacrifices, Danganronpa-Style Yuri Murder-Mystery Scheduled To Get English Translation

Chinese game developer outfit, Canned Octopus Team, recently released Seven Sacrifices onto the Steam store back on September 14th, for $6.99. During the first week of being on sale it’s marked down by 60% off, so you can actually grab it for as little as $4.19 during the launch period.

The game follows seven young girls, some of whom are friends, some of whom are strangers, and they all meet up at a villa in the mountains to attend a party, only a storm strikes and they’re trapped up at the mansion for the time being.

While it may not seem like a big deal, the girls begin to drop dead in very violent ways, one by one. It’s up to players to figure out who the killer is and why.

The main character Li Lisi will attempt to figure out who the culprit is before she becomes the next victim.

The game features storyboards and characterization very similar to standard visual novels, but it’s a lot more than that. The setup is very similar to other mixed-genre mystery games such as Zero Time Dilemma or Danganronpa.

Players will be able to survey the mansion and check out where the girls are located and on which floor as they attempt to figure out what’s going.

At the moment the game is only available in Chinese. So if you can’t speak the language you’re fresh out of luck. On the upside, however, there is strong interest from the visual novel community and they have asked the developer about an English localization patch. Responding to a thread in the forums on September 8th, 2018, a member of the Canned Octopus Team responded saying…

“Thank you for your attentions. Of course, the English version is under planning. We are looking for suitable translators. It will take some time before the task completes successfully.”

Hopefully the translators they get for the game won’t be social justice warriors, otherwise the English translation could end up FUBAR.

On the upside, the current Chinese rendition is receiving a lot of very positive feedback. The game features some yuri elements, which has piqued the interest of some VN fanatics, but it also doesn’t shy away from a lot of violence and gore. So it’s definitely aimed at a mature audience.
