Saber Interactive’s Spintires: Mudrunner will receive some brand new DLC called American Wilds. The DLC is scheduled to launch this fall alongside the release of the Nintendo Switch version of Spintires: Mudrunner.
However, upon further reading the press release, the dates are not the same. The American Wilds DLC will have a scattered launch starting October 23rd, next month for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of Spintires. Whereas the Nintendo Switch version will launch a couple of weeks after the DLC’s initial launch, starting in November. The Switch version will include the American Wilds DLC and all previously released DLC expansion packs in one single bundle.
The news about the new DLC and the Switch version was accompanied by a new teaser trailer, showcasing some of the new content from the expansion pack, which you can check out below.
When you take a look at the DLC trailer you can definitely see that the console version is downgraded from what you get on PC. The geometrical mud deformation has much lower levels of detail and visible triangles across the polygon faces of the mud. The clumps are blockier, and the effects are not quite as realistic as the PC counterpart.
Of course, if you don’t have a mega-rig and can’t run the game the way it was meant to be played, it’s still very possible to enjoy Spintires: Mudrunner and the upcoming American Wilds DLC as a passably decent console experience.
The new content pack will come with two all new sandbox maps to explore based on locations from Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota, along with all new missions to accomplish, and brand new challenges to undertake.
Seven new trucks from U.S., truck manufacturers have been added, including brand name trucks from Hummer, Chevrolet, and Western Star. As noted in the press release, this brings the total content count to 30 operable vehicles, 60 add-ons, 10 sandbox maps, and 11 challenge maps.
As mentioned at the top of the article, you can look for the new DLC to drop for Spintires: Mudrunner come October 23rd for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and in November with the full launch of Spintires on the Nintendo Switch.
