Apsulov: End Of Gods Delves Into Nordic Myth With Sci-Fi Horror

Angry Demon Studio announced that next year during the third-quarter of 2019 they have plans on releasing a first-person adventure-horror game called Apsulov: End of Gods, which combines survival elements, ancient Nordic mythology, and sci-fi elements together.

A teaser trailer was released featuring a brief look at the gameplay and a cinematic. Players take on the role of a young girl who gets her arm bitten off by a robotic bear. She ends up in a sanctuary for the gods, where she’s given a robotic arm to manipulate and access the hidden layers of the old ones, where ancient monsters roam about and secret technology lies in wait of discovery. You can check out the teaser trailer below to get an idea of what the game is like.

It’s hard to get an idea of what’s really going on, but the Steam store page description states that the player is in search of an ancient artifact that plays a role in the nine realms of Yggdrasil.

The gameplay is themed around exploration and utilizing the makeshift arm to access various parts of the underground sanctuary.

Thematically, the game seems very similar to games like E.Y.E : Divine Cybermancy or Too Human, combining a mixture of mythology and technology together for a futuristic themed retelling of old fables and cultural history. But gameplay wise Apsulov takes a very distinct left turn into a more methodical horror game, where you’ll have limited resources and must navigate through the corridors and underhalls without getting eaten or killed by the monsters.

As a concept it’s not bad, but it still has a long ways to go before it’s complete. Also, it’s still early on in development and won’t be released until around the same time next year. So what you’re seeing now might change drastically by the time the game nears release in 2019.

You can follow the development of the game by adding it to the wishlist or by following it.
