Ascendant One Guide Explains How To Enable English Early Access

Nexon and devCat’s Ascendant One is a sci-fi MOBA game currently going through testing in early access over in South Korea. The game combines futuristic characters and classes with Greek mythology.

At the moment there’s no release date for a Western release given that devCat and Nexon are focused on the South Korean market, but that hasn’t stopped some gamers from attempting to figure out how to access the English version of the game anyway.

YouTuber Steparu has a quick rundown of how to access the English version of Ascendant One even if you’re using the Korean client. The quick tutorial was featured in a comment attached to a video showcasing some of the game’s dynamic emotes for a few of the extremely well-designed characters.

So first and foremost, you have to sign up for a Nexon account and download the client for the Early Access version over on the Official Ascendant One website.

  1. Proceed to the game’s local folder in the C: user directory and open up AppDataLocalAscendantOneSavedConfigWindowsNoEditors
  2. Find the GameUserSettings.ini file and open it.
  3. Scroll down to the “A1Culture=kr” and replace it with “A1Culture=en”
  4. Save the file and boot up the game and the basic menus and UI should now be in English.

The game itself, as mentioned at the top of the article, is a MOBA. You pick the different classes and attempt to engage in combat against other players from an isometric view.

The game is running on the Unreal Engine 4 because devCat wanted to make use of the built-in physically based rendering. Plus, the studio was already familiar with the architecture after having worked with the Unreal Engine 3 for so many years for Vindictus’ development.

As far as the character models are concerned, though, it almost feels like a waste that they’re being used in a zoomed-out MOBA, especially when the women look like this.

According to MMO Culture, they have plans on adding a total of 30 playable Ascendants. The game will also not have a playable demo at this year’s G-Star, but they do hope to continue testing it in early access in South Korea until they feel confident in the gameplay, visibility, UI management, and quality of life features.
