Lethal League Blaze Channels Jet Set Radio’s Style And It’s Available Right Now

Team Reptile’s Lethal League Blaze is the Jet Set Radio of competitive sports games. It’s like a mix of a fighting game and Windjammers. You take control of a number of unique characters while battling across a number of funky futuristic environments to take part in the world’s most awesomely illegal underground sporting event.

The game supports up to four players in local or online multiplayer, where you choose from a cast of colorful characters and attempt to out-score your opponent by tagging it to your color and then beating your opponent with the ball, almost like a fighting-game rendition of dodge ball, or the TRON disc games.

As you play through the game you’re able to unlock new characters and outfits for the characters, along with new game modes to play and new stages in which to play them on. There’s also new music to go along with all of that additional content.

You can see what the gamplay is like with the launch trailer for Lethal League Blaze below.

Now unlike Windjammers or other sports-based action games, there’s actually a story mode in Lethal League Blaze that you can play through, as you venture through the not-so-barren corners and alleyways of Shine City, defeating locals and bosses in order to reach the end.

In addition to the story mode and the arcade vs modes, there are also modifiers and mutators you can unlock and activate to mix up the gameplay even more, including turning on goals, utilizing special moves, and even having the game played out with one-hit-kill HP matches.

The visual style of the game is definitely one of its most standout features, but the musical selection in the soundtrack is fleshed out with a few recognizable names, including Hideki Naganuma, Frank Klepacki, Pixelord, Klaus Veen, and Zombies’ Bignic.

You can learn more about the game or pick up a digital copy over on the Steam store for $19.99 right now.

You can also look for the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch version of the game to launch in spring of 2019.
