Looking for a simulator that doesn’t block you off based on choices you’ve made in the past or present? If so, indie developers and publisher Far Road Games lets you accept or deny stuff such as slavery, religion, homosexuality, abortions, and more in your fledgling society in the post-apocalyptic game, Atomic Society. The sim is out now for PC via Steam Early Access.
To be honest, I’m actually shocked that indie devs Far Road Games even has the option to banish, kill or boot a person (or group of people) out of your society based on personal beliefs and traits that you may not agree with in Atomic Society — especially during this very sensitive and political climate.
In other words, if you happen to disagree with a group of people or outside gangs that support a certain religion or living conditions, you will be able to shape your society via violent force or diplomacy (or however you so choose) in this sim without obscure consequences that block various gameplay elements.
Downsides noted by folks who own the game say that it feels like it’s still in an Early Access state but has a lot of potential moving forward. I’m not so sure how the developers will handle this game in the future regarding updates and so on, but it seems that many people are pleased with their roadmap and methods of adding content.
Anyway, you can be the judge yourself by reading over the official description and watching the release trailer showing in-game footage below:
“Society is dead. So remake it. Build and rule your own post-apocalyptic society. Decide the laws and morals of the survivors. Overcome challenges and threats from the wasteland. What kind of society will you make?”
If you don’t mind coughing up $14.99 for a game that’s still in Early Access, then you have Atomic Society as an option. However, if you want to learn more about this game you can hit up store.steampowered.com or farroadgames.com.
