Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san PS4 Screenshots Reveal Even More Censorship
Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san Censorship

New images have surfaced for the PS4 JRPG exclusive, Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san: Hot Spring Labyrinth, this time truly showing that the game really is censored.

Originally some intrepid gamers found out that the game had some tastefully ecchi images in a mini-game where you attempt to disrobe the characters. Furya Corporation replaced those images with other images that featured steam covering up the navel and cleavage of the characters.

Some gamers thought that the censorship was just part of the game feature, but the new images show that not only is there steam covering up the not-so-naughty bits, but the light-rays that developers have been adding to games like Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart, are now making an appearance in the game based on the Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san anime.

4Gamer posted up the new screenshots, and like clockwork we see that the cleavage and pelvic regions have been censored using bright lights, making the game look more lewd than it actually is.

What’s especially egregious about the censorship is that there is no nudity in the game. Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san only has a CERO C rating, which means it does not contain any actual nudity and is designed for those aged 15 and up. So the censorship is completely unnecessary for a game like this.

Some have attempted to argue that Sony is trying to change the image of the PlayStation brand by censoring, banning, removing and prohibiting games like Omega Labyrinth Z from releasingon the PS4. Others have justified by the censorship by saying that it’s Sony’s platform and they can do what they want.

Normal gamers have rightly called out that the censorship is wholly unnecessary given that Sony is creating new curation methods on top of what developers already adjust their content to based on the ratings boards.

That’s not to mention that the new censorship policy in place for the PS4 requires Japanese developers to fill out the policy form in English, which has created an additional communication barrier that has prolonged the release of visual novels like Silverio Trinity.

The Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san JRPG is due out exclusively for the PS4 starting November 15th.

[Update 11/1/2018:] There’s additional footage proving that the censorship is indeed intact in the game, with the mini-game censoring out the cleavage using steam that never goes away, as evident in the video below starting at the 5:52:13 mark.
