Valve has been banning games off of the Steam store in recent times for nebulous and inconsistent reasons. A variety of games have been removed from the store under suspicious claims, while others have disappeared off of Steam without a peep from Valve. Visual novel aficionados, anime fans, and oppai connoisseurs have begun embracing the fear that a new waifu holocaust is taking place.
Amid the new waifu holocaust, GOG.com has started a mid-week sale on Japanese visual novels and role-playing games, including the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, the yuri visual novel Kindred Spirits on the Roof, and one of the games that Valve banned from the Steam store, A Kiss for the Petals: Maidens of Michael.
You can check out the full listing for the Japanese mid-week sale over on the GOG promo page.
Take note that there other games in the list that aren’t strictly Japanese, such as Celestian Tales: Old North, but many of the games are aimed at the anime-loving audience.
There’s Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, along with the Legend of Heroes games, and Agarest: Generations of War Zero.
What’s funny is that the list contains quite a few yuri entries in addition to Maidens of Michael, including Highway Blossoms. There’s also the gender-bender, romance-trap VN, Princess Evangile that’s also available on the service. It’s almost like GOG.com is giving Valve the royal middle finger.
It’s ironic because GOG.com has apologized multiple times to Social Justice Warriors, even against the advice of the community. These days it’s hard to find a true ally to gaming culture that hasn’t been co-opted by politically motivated activists.
Nevertheless, you can get in on the Japanese midweek deal on GOG.com with discounts at up to 60% off over the course of the next two days.
