Asher Trailer Sees Ron Perlman As An Aging But Badass Hitman

Ron Perlman may be a screaming Liberal on social media, but he’s a pretty big badass in the movies. His latest action film sees him donning the role as a hitman, while Richard Dreyfuss, Peter Facinelli, and Famke Janssen take up supporting roles. Perlman leads a small-time crusade against any and everyone trying to bury him six feet under.

Yes, this is another one of those “last assignment and then I retire” movies about an aging hitman looking to get out of a business where the only way out is death. Perlman’s character finds a little bit of solace in the sweet, sweet arms of Janssen, but he still has some pesky bugs to squash in a line of work that just doesn’t want to leave him alone.

The film seems to combine classic character-driven storytelling with some close-shot action scenes and a compact story taking place within the bustling urban jungle. You can check out the trailer for the film courtesy of JoBlo Movie Trailers.

They don’t go too much in depth as to who exactly is hunting Perlman’s character or why. We just assume that because he wants to retire the seedy criminals that hired him apparently want him dead.

Now don’t expect The Transporter-style action sequences where Perlman is flipping and flying around the room like Jason Statham. The action in the trailer looks a lot more condensed, focused, and personal.

There’s only one large-scale set piece explosion that goes off when the front of a building is blown up, but otherwise, it looks more like a crime-drama with some shootouts sprinkled throughout.

The film is due out in 2019. It seems like the sort of flick that will likely make its way to DVD and streaming services. It might be something to keep an eye on if you’re into moderately paced action films.
