The PS4 version of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet due out in Japan will be heavily censored. The game will remove various jiggle physics options, gravure features, certain DLC compatibility from Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune, and obviously not every swimsuit will be available from the previous version of the game as some are “excluded” from the PS4 version, likely due to the new censorship policies. The upside is that the Soft Engine 2.0 is back, and there’s some exclusive Nintendo Switch physics options added to the game.
As you can see, there are a lot of features not available for the PS4 version of Scarlet, including the removal of the gold fan, softening gel, and parts of the jet black fan features.
If you’re unfamiliar with that content, there’s a video below showcasing how the golden fan works in the current version of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, courtesy of Chris Wells.
The fan allows you to see the jiggle physics in effect in ways you didn’t think possible. Seeing the hair, clothing, butts, thighs, and boobs bouncing around like crazy.
Voice For Fan-Service also pointed out that some of the more risque costumes likely won’t make the cut, and gave an example of the outfits you probably won’t see made compatible with the Scarlet version on the PS4.
This is what Sony wants to censor, jiggling their bodies at any moment with the blackfan. Some DLC costumes will be missing probably more sexy revealing ones like the peace bikini here. Yeah sure its about underage girls the Sony apologists still say 👇 pic.twitter.com/ZOu11mMXMI

Additionally, the gel, also known as the “softening gel”, or the softening items, allows you to lather the girls up with different skin care products that allow the boob sizes to increase, or the boob bouncing to increase, or increase the girls’ butt size or butt bounce.
There’s also a “hardening gel” that reduces bounciness. You can see a demonstration of how the feature works courtesy of Cosmic Nava.
This was made available in patch 1.07 for the original Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune Edition, which came out on the PS4 back in 2016, before the new censorship policies were put into effect.
None of the skin care items will be available on the PS4 version of the game, but they will be available on the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
Additionally, Nintendo Switch owners will gain access to completely exclusive jiggle physics options and the jet black fan, which blows off the girls’ costumes.
Much like Senran Kagura: Reflexion, which featured an interactive Intimacy Mode featuring the Joy-Con controllers, Switch owners will be able to make use of Team Ninja’s patented Soft 4D Engine middleware.
The update to the Soft Engine 2.0 allows Switch owners to fondle and interact with the girls using the Joy-Cons, as well as experiencing HD Rumble feedback through the controllers. Additionally, you’ll be able to wiggle and waggle the Joy-Cons to knock off or partially strip the girls’ swimsuits, which is a carry-over feature from the PC version of Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation made by DMM Games.
The game will launch with 10 characters you know about, including Misaki the newest addition to the roster, and a mystery 11th character that will be revealed at a later date.
Koei Tecmo is also easing up on the microtransactions, enabling players to earn more in-game credits to spend on premium bikinis.
Unfortunately the Switch version will not be receiving any DLC in the standard version, but there will be a free-to-play version made available for the Switch that may be compatible with the DLC. The PS4 version will have VR Passport compatibility, and if you’ve already purchased some costumes for the previous Fortune version you might be able to download some of them for the Scarlet edition.
Obviously, there’s a pretty big spec difference between both versions as well, with the Switch running at 30fps and 900p in TV mode and 720p at 30fps in handheld mode. The PS4 version will run at native 1080p at 60fps.
The free-to-play version for the Nintendo Switch will be detailed at a later date, and some of the new characters from Venus Vacation will be available for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune, which is already available on the PS4.
The real takeaway from this is that the definitive version of the game is obviously the Nintendo Switch version, since you not only gain access to a lot of previously released content from Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune, but you also gain the extra motion-based and HD Rumble interactivity with the Joy-Cons, almost similar to the VR update for the PlayStation VR, but taken to the next level thanks to the inclusion of the fans and the softening gels.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet is due for release on March 30th, 2019 for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
