Lucius 3 Announced For PC, Set To Release December 13th For $19.99

Shiver Games is back in a big way with Lucius III, the third outing in the horror trilogy centering around the son of Satan. The new game is set to release on December 13th, next month for $19.99 on Steam. You can currently wishlist the title over on the Steam store.

The game picks up where the second game left off, with Lucius heading back to his old stomping grounds of Winter Hill. The third game will center around the possible answer to the finality of Lucius’ long journey of torture and death.

The announcement trailer for the game featuring a cover of Frijid Pink’s “The House of the Rising Sun” is excellently put together. You can check it out below.

As showcased in the trailer, Lucius will have access to a number of new and innovative ways to take down his victims.

You’ll be able to exercise various forms of execution in the sandbox of Winter Hill. New magical abilities have also been added to the game, including the ability to use concentration to kill a raven and become the raven. You can see the fast-travel skill in action with the demonstration video below.

Yes, the Lucius series has some rather odd features, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it reminds me of the early Hitman games from IO Interactive, which focused more on the sandbox gameplay than any kind of linear storytelling.

That’s not to say that there won’t be a story in Lucius III, because there will absolutely be a story in Lucius III.

You can unfold the story by following the story quests and completing the objectives. You can see how some of the quests are accumulated with the demo from The Freeman House below.

There’s the return of environmental observation and interaction, very similar to the original Lucius, so you can plot and plan how to take out various residents. The game isn’t quite as gung-ho action-oriented as Lucius II, which was a lot closer to Hitman than the more slow-burn pace present in the original game.

Obviously, there will be plenty of deaths, and gore, and violence to be had given the nature of the game. The graphics have also seen a major improvement over the last two entries, which is funny given that this AA title now looks on par to most AAA titles.

There’s also going to be a variety of powers and skills that players can utilize to either directly or indirectly kill NPCs, much like in the first game.

You can keep track of the development or learn more about the impending release of Lucius III by visiting the Steam store page.
