Obsidian Entertainment To Reveal A Non-Mobile New RPG Next Week

It looks like FoxNext and Cold Iron Studios reveal of Alien: Blackout will be accompanied by Obsidian Entertainment “brand new” title next week when the joke that is The Game Awards rolls around (for its fifth annual showing) on December 6th.

If you are unaware of Obsidian Entertainment’s work, the team is the one behind Fallout: New Vegas. Don’t take the following information as fact, but it is said that the upcoming title by said team holds two of the original Fallout’s creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky.

Looking over to factual information comes various pop-up splashes on obsidian.net. The website in question displays images like “Spacer’s Choice” and “Auntie Cleo’s.” If you skip each countdown, you can find another image splash showing a sci-fi-handgun and another being a batch of lotion products hinting at the setting of the game, as seen above (header image) and below:

Other factual information about this game is that it is an RPG. I’m not sure what kind of RPG exactly this game will be (looter-shooter, action-adventure, open-world?), but the above information was confirmed by Geoff Keighley over on Twitter.

Secondly, we know that this game at the joke awards will not be a mobile game. Keighley, again, confirmed this to a skeptical gamer who wanted to know whether or not if this game will be for handheld devices to which he replied: “It’s not.”

As for the publisher and developer, we know that Private Division will publish this upcoming game. If you have no clue who or what Private Division has under its belt, the company previously published Kerbal Space Program.

As for the developer, Obsidian Entertainment, the team now belongs to Microsoft Studios. In case you missed it, earlier this month, Microsoft announced an acquisition of said developer:

“As one of the industry’s premiere RPG developers, we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to add their expertise to Microsoft Studios, while enabling the studio to preserve its unique culture and build on its talent and vision to fully realize their creative ambitions.”

Whether you are watching or skipping out on The Game Awards 2018, the event is said to kick-off on December 6th.
