Resident Evil 2 Remake Had At Least 800 People Working On It

Some information became available regarding the development of Resident Evil 2 Remake, which was revealed to have had at least 800 people working on it at one point during the development.

Gearnuke picked up the news from Tokyo resident, Alex Aniel, who watched an NHK broadcast involving Capcom, and it was noted that during the broadcast Resident Evil 2 Remake had at least 800 people working on it.

This 800 is up from the 600 employees that worked on Resident Evil 6, which featured multiple campaign modes, and multiple modes.

Resident Evil 6 was also a very polarizing game because parts of it was really a true survival-horror experience, or at least the first half of Leon’s campaign was, but then the other campaigns were a hodge-podge of quality, with Chris’ campaign being more of a run-and-gun, military shooter experience, and Jake’s campaign being more of a non-stop action-fest where both him and Sherry were on the run from a giant monster the entire time.

There were also additional multiplayer modes, survival levels, and even a PvEvP feature. Capcom was gunning for Call of Duty levels of success, and while they attained record sales for Resident Evil 6, a lot of people also felt it lost a lot of its identity. This was also during the time when Ubisoft was being braggadocios about having 1,000 people working on Assassin’s Creed 3, which also didn’t entirely go down well with the gaming community.

For Resident Evil 7 they attempted to head back to its roots with a more slowed down, methodically paced horror experience. However, for Resident Evil 2 Remake, it sounds like the company will attempt to mix and match some of what they learned from Resident Evil 7 and some of the methodologies they learned from Resident Evil 6.

We’ll see how it all comes together when Resident Evil 2 Remake launches January 25th, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
