Welcome To Princeland, Quirky Action Game Is Like Just Cause Meets Far Cry

It’s not often you get a 16-player cooperative game set in an open-world designed by Turks, but Welcome To Princeland is the sort of game that aims to break convention by throwing players into a crazy world that seems like a mix between Just Cause, Far Cry, DayZ and Garry’s Mod.

Turkish developers Eren Aydin and Serhat Yucekaya took the open-world concept and decided to flip it on its head by putting players in the role of a mercenary who ends up on the crazy-strange island called Princeland. The tax-rate is 800% and the people there just can’t survive; buying food, cars, or basic survival gear is out the question. They beseech the player to find and kill the Prince, who is hiding out in a hut somewhere on the island. With the Prince gone, Princeland will finally be free.

But beware, Princeland is home to all sorts of crazy experiments, illegal drug trades, and lots of freakish monsters. You’ll either need to work smart playing by yourself, or work tactically playing with 15 other players in the 16-player co-op mode.

You can check out the gameplay trailer below to get an idea of what the game is like.

So it’s somewhat like Far Cry insofar that you can roam around this open-world sandbox and fight against mutant creatures, but it’s also like Just Cause since you can go around and complete missions in any way you see fit.

There are also various vehicles for you to commandeer, and plenty of weapons to acquire, ranging from shotguns and assault rifles, to grenade and rocket launchers.

Welcome to Princeland doesn’t take itself seriously at all, and the game is extremely ridiculous and over-the-top.

As you progress through the game you can unlock additional difficulty settings, but it’s advised that you play the hardest difficulties with 15 other players in the online mode.

You will need to have Steam in online mode to play with others via multiplayer, and you can’t be VAC banned, otherwise the multiplayer will be inaccessible. You can still play offline in the single-player mode, if you want.

The developers are currently working on improving the full controller support and matching the inventory style to match Far Cry, while also fixing some of the stereo sound effects to support binaural 3D sound, and they’re also improving spawn locations, and other minor glitches.

You can pick up a digital copy of Welcome to Princeland by visiting the Steam store page, where the game is available for $4.99.
