KissAnime, AnimeFreak And Other Streaming Sites Blocked By ISPs In Australia

The Australian court ordered major internet service providers in Australia to block 181 “pirate” domains within the region, along with various other subtitle site providers such as Open Subtitles and Subscene.

TorrentFreak is reporting that ISPs have just two weeks to implement the measure, with the movie rights holders having to pay the internet service providers $50 per blocked domain.

The domains that have been ordered to be blocked for copyright infringement and screenplay infringement (for the subtitles) are listed below:

This comes as part of a court order that will be valid for the next three years, according to TorrentFreak. The rights holders also have the option to apply for an extension on the block, which is something that they’re very likely to do.

Basically, if you live in Aussie-land, you’re going to have to resort to a VPN to get around the block, or avoid using the ISPs: Telstra, Optus, Vocus, TPG, and Vodafone, or any of the other companies using those lines.

Either way, watching streaming anime from the land down under just got a heck of a lot harder. This also means that you’ll likely have to stick with the “approved” streaming services in order to catch your anime, such as Crunchyroll or Netflix, both of whom have sometimes very clear agendas in mind.
