NieR: Automata Sells More Than 3.5 Million Copies Worldwide
Nier Automata Sales

Square Enix and Platinum Games are now rolling in the success with the AA title, NieR: Automata. The action-RPG starring 2B, 9S, and A2 has become a multi-million selling property, moving more than 3.5 million copies across PC, PS4, and Xbox One. I guess it’s a good thing this game released before Sony’s censorship policies were put into place.

RPG Site recently dropped a tweet featuring a link to the NieR Japan account, which revealed that NieR: Automata has shipped 3.5 million across digital and physical SKUs for home consoles and PC. This was probably in no small part thanks to the very sexy lead protagonist, 2B.

The game has been on a steady incline since its release, in early 2017.

Originally it came out alongside Horizon: Zero Dawn, but with a much smaller marketing budget and market presence. Even still, NieR: Automata managed to move 2 million units across PS4 and PC by September, 2017.

By June, 2018 the game had surpassed 3 million units for PS4 and PC, while it prepped for a launch on the Xbox One. Six months later and it managed to add 500,000 extra copies to the stash.

According to a second tweet, the game has sold more than 1 million copies on PS4 in Japan and Asia alone.

That’s a very impressive figure, and it kind of puts a damper on the circulation of naysaying about console gaming in Japan and Asia.

Now wouldn’t be a bad time to grab a copy of the game given that the new HD texture pack just released with version 0.73. So you can grab that along with the game right now for PS4, Xbox One, or on Steam for PC.
