XSeed Games announced that Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal will release on January 22nd, 2019 on the PS4 and on Steam for PC. The PS4 version is what caused the delay because they had to completely remove the Intimacy Mode from the game, and it won’t be allowed in any future Senran Kagura games on the PS4, as part of the new censorship policy that Sony rolled out.
Back on October 12th, 2018 Xseed Games had to break the bad news to the community, acknowledging that the Intimacy Mode would not be present in the PS4 version of the game, but it would be appearing for the Steam version.
In the press release XSeed Games announced that the PS4 version of the “Tailor Made” edition will be available at select retailers for $49.99, which features a two-disc soundtrack featuring 58 music tracks and a special DLC character and episode, along with special costumes and a diorama pose set. The “At The Seams” edition will be available $79.99, and it comes with everything from the ‘Tailor Made” edition but with the added bonus of rubber character straps that come with display stands.
The standard vanilla version of the game will be available as a digital standalone for $39.99 on PS4 and Steam.
If you pre-order (which it’s definitely advised that you don’t) you will also receive a free “Beautiful Something Yukata” DLC pack. Additionally, if you pre-order on PS4 specifically (which is the inferior version, by the way) you will receive a “Blooming Again” theme for the PS4. Separately, you’ll be able to purchase these outfits and themes for $3.99 and $2.99 respectively.
And that’s not all. During the first four weeks of the game’s launch, the Cutie Melon and Cutie Peach costumes will be available as free DLC for everyone who purchases the game. After the four week grace period the outfits will cost you $3.99 each.
Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal has so far been trapped in the news due to the Sony PS4 censorship policy. Most people know by now that the PS4 version will not feature the Intimacy Mode, but it will be available on the Steam version (barring any interruptions from Valve’s product release manager, Jason Ruymen).
You can look for Senran Kagura: Burst Re:Newal to launch on January 22nd, 2019. If you want to support XSeed and show Sony up for their draconian censorship policies for third-party publishers, be sure not to buy the game on the PS4.
