Legrand Legacy: Tale Of The Fatebounds JRPG Heads To Nintendo Switch Jan 24th

In need of a classically made JRPG experience for the Nintendo Switch? Well, Indonesian developer Semisoft announced that Legrand Legacy: Tale of the Fatebounds is officially launching on the Nintendo Switch starting January 24th at the end of the month.

The game is a throwback to the old-school way of making role-playing adventure games, which have become a rarity among the AAA studios, most of whom would rather focus on fleecing gamers through loot boxes and predatory microtransaction systems.

Nevertheless, Semisoft teamed up with Hong Kong-based publishing outfit, Another Indie, to get the game ported and released on Nintendo’s little hybrid that could.

Legrand Legacy features classic 3D overworld exploration with hand-painted backgrounds, dynamic battle systems with quick-time combat controls, and the ability to delve into side-quests, mini-games, and an immersive crafting system for new weapons and armor. The overall design reminds me a lot of Square’s Final Fantasy VIII for PC and PSX, just with better graphics.

Legrand Legacy originally launched last year for the PC on the exact same date as when the Switch version is supposed to launch. The Switch release was pushed back, and it took the team a year to get things ironed out, but now it’s all settled and done.

A bunch of gamers began requesting from Semisoft to make a Switch version so that they could play it portably. The PC version has a mostly positive user review ranking from gamers who have had a taste to play some old-school JRPG gaming.

Apparently the team had to iron out some optimization hiccups and overcome some obstructions to get the game working right on the Switch. You can grab a digital copy from the Nintendo eShop starting January 24th, 2019 for $19.99.

You can also pick up a digital copy of Legrand Legacy right now on PC for $24.99 from over on the Steam store.
