Resident Evil 2 Remake Demo Set To Go Live Jan 11th For Xbox One, PS4, PC [Updated]

[Correction 1/8/2019:] Capcom updated their blog to announce that the Resident Evil 2 demo will indeed come to the PS4 and PC as well. Yes, PC gamers will be able to play-test the 30-minute timed demo ahead of its launch later this month.

[Original article:] Capcom has a Resident Evil 2 demo in store for gamers on the Xbox One come January 11th at the end of the week. Starting on Friday you’ll be able to download the free demo from the Xbox Store. It’s rare Microsoft gets exclusives, but this time around they seemed to nab two exclusive demos from Capcom, one from Devil May Cry 5 and now Resident Evil 2.

According to the Daily Star (yeah, I know) they’re reporting that the demo from Capcom will be a timed demo. You’ll only have 30 minutes to play through a section of the game. Technically, a 30 minute timed demo is quite a bit. You can gain quite the impression with half an hour’s worth of gameplay.

The demo will not only be limited to 30 minutes, but access to the downloadable client will also be limited. You’ll only have between January 11th and January 31st to get your hands on the demo before it goes kaput from the store.

Now the Daily Star mentions that this is very much like the situation with Devil May Cry 5, which also had a free demo made available for the Xbox One for a limited time. The exclusive demo came to an end just recently, but a second free demo is being made available on February 7th, 2019 for both the Xbox One and PS4. So there is speculation that while this first demo will be an Xbox exclusive.

It’s completely possible that the second demo will be available for both the Xbox One and the PS4, but the game will be out by the time the first demo expires, so it might seem kind of pointless to even release a demo at this point since the full game is just weeks away.

Nevertheless, for those of you who want to see how well the game runs on the lowest common denominator on the hardware chain, it’s a worthwhile game to check out.

The full version of the Resident Evil 2 remake is due out on January 25th for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
