Xbox Games With Gold For January, 2019 Includes WRC 6, Far Cry 2, Celeste

Microsoft’s four free games for the month of January includes two old-school classics, a game that SJWs love, and an actual game that’s high quality and well made.

The details was rolled out over on the Xbox News Wire. The month starts off with Celeste, which is made by the developers at Matt Makes Games. The game will be available between January 1st and January 31st, 2019.

It’s another one of those hipster, indie 8-bit platformers. Game journalists fell in love with it because the studio promotes the diversity agenda and the story is about mental health awareness. You’ll never really know about the theme of the game just based on the gameplay itself, but the developers are all in on promoting the diversity agenda.

Thankfully, you’re not stuck with just SJW games throughout January. The second Xbox One game is WRC 6, which is actually a pretty darn good racing game from Kylotonn Racing Games and Bigben Interactive. It actually is the preferable game over Codemasters’ DiRT 4. Although I suspect that Codemasters will regain the crown when DiRT Rally 2.0 arrives in February next month. WRC 6 will be available between January 16th and February 15th.

The last two games are classics from the Xbox 360 era, with Lara Croft: Guardian of Light being available as a backwards compatible title between January 1st and January 15th, and one of the best shooter games in the last two decades, Far Cry 2. Ubisoft’s Africa-set FPS will be available between January 16th and January 31st.

Just to give you an idea of how far ahead it was in terms of its features, check out the comparison video below between Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 5, courtesy of Crowbcat.

It’s safe to say that Microsoft cleaned house this month and definitely has the better line-up over the PlayStation brand. It’s not by much but it edges out Sony’s anemic offerings by comparison.
