Producer and director of Dead or Alive 6 has been sending all sorts of mixed messages about the game leading up to its March 1st release. It’s had an absolutely rocky time on the PR circuits because Shimbori kept going back and forth about whether or not the game actually contained proper fan-service. Well, a new video is circulating ahead of the game’s March 1st release, featuring a little bit of the clothes damage that will be featured in the M-rated fighting game.
It’s still rather tame compared to games like Senran Kagura or Jump Force, but we can see in the two different matches that Christie’s bra gets blasted clean off her body during the attacks Hitomi and Ayane.
You can check out the gameplay video below captured by Quest Gaming TV to see the clothes damage feature in action.
Now some of you might remember that it wasn’t too long ago that Shimbori had stated that Team Ninja reduced the clothing damage in Dead or Alive 6 to appeal to female gamers. When the story got out he later claimed that it was incorrect and he was “misunderstood”, and that they didn’t tone down the clothing damage to appeal to female gamers. He later said that they had to tone down the clothing damage because fan-service is now longer as acceptable today as it was years ago, and that having the clothing damage in the game on par to Dead or Alive 5: Last Round might prevent the game from being sold in stores.
How true that is is anyone’s guess, but in the video we at least see that duly exaggerated boob physics are on display, but they’re no where near as good as the soft body physics from the Soft Engine 2.0, which is what powers the upcoming Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet for the Nintendo Switch and PS4. However, the PS4 version of that game will be censored.
In the case of Dead or Alive 6, the game will be launching with a rather modest roster, a missing tag-team feature, and no OMG boob physics. Some fans are still holding out hope that the game will be fun, but others decided to get off when too many turns were being made in the PR roadtrip leading up to release.
You can look for Dead or Alive 6 to drop on March 1st, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
