Daedalic Entertainment and Spanish game development outfit Tessera Studios announced that the psychological, home-invasion thriller for the PlayStation VR, Intruders: Hide and Seek, is currently available right now from the PlayStatoin Store for $19.99.
The game takes advantage of the PlayStation VR headset by putting players in the middle of a hostage situation while located out in the middle of a forest. You assume the role of a young lad named Ben, who bears witness to three mysterious intruders who proceed to break into the family’s holiday home.
It’s up to Been to outwit and out-step the three criminals while also attempting to discover their true identity, all while utilizing stealth and avoiding being seen at all costs. The concept reminds me a little bit of Panic Room meets Home Alone.
You can check out the gameplay trailer below to get an idea of what you’ll be up against in the PSVR release.
Visually the game is your standard-fare VR title., with a realistic environmental tone for the house and entities, but that all changes when you get a look at the actual intruders who attempt to make Ben’s life a living nightmare.
The trailer spends most of its time doing some Hitchcock-style pans and flyovers of the various rooms and locations you’ll be moving about within the house.
Near the end of the trailer we finally get to see the three perps, one of whom is a rather tall and girthy fellow, while there’s a chick with a shoulder holster, and a man in a long coat and an antler mask on his head.
Unfortunately we don’t get to see how the game plays out but we do see Ben’s parents tied up on the floor along with a flashlight pointing to a couch with a blood stain on it.
Since the game is currently out and available and you may not be entirely sure about the quality, you can always swing by a YouTuber doing a Let’s Play and see if it dispenses the sort of vibes that catches the fancy of your wallet.
