Epic Games Store Won’t Carry Porn Games, Adults Only Games, Or “Hate” Games
Epic Games Store No Porn

If you were expecting to see any lewd or non-lewd titles that were banned from Steam make an appearance on the Epic Games Store, don’t expect them to show up at all. Epic Games won’t be carrying any “porn” games nor any “hate” games. They are not the saviors of oppai you may have been hoping for.

According to an article on GamesRadar, they reported that during a panel at GDC Epic Games’ publishing strategy director, Sergey Galyonkin, confirmed that you won’t be seeing any lewd games on the Epic Games Store…

“‘We do not intend to sell porn and hate games on the store,’ publishing strategy director Sergey Galyonkin said at a GDC panel today. He later clarified that M-rated games will be eligible for the Store, but AO-rated games will not. Epic Games Store head Steve Allison also added that games which haven’t been rated by the ESRB or a comparable board will require ‘subjective judgments.'”

Basically, this means that games like Hatred will never appear on the Epic Games Store. Games like Manhunt 2 will never appear on the Epic Games Store. And lewdy games like Nekopara and Evenicle and Eroico and just about anything from Sekai Project, Winged Cloud, MangaGamer, Top Hat Studios, or Dharker Studios, will not appear on the Epic Games Store.

Now the reason that they mention that games not rated by the ESRB or PEGI or CERO will require “subjective judgments” is because a lot of indie games aren’t rated by the ratings board. So if they want to appease a certain crowd where where a game popular with game journalists isn’t rated but they want it on the store, they can still exercise enough curative leeway to do so.

However, if you were expecting Epic Games to step in and pick up the slack where Valve is currently banning a lot of anime and visual novel games from Asian developers, dubbed the Waifu Holocaust 2.0, don’t. Epic doesn’t seem to have any interest in weeb, anime, or visual novel games.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney had previously mentioned to PC Gamer

“We’ll have a quality standard that doesn’t accept crappy games. We’ll accept reasonably good quality games, of any scale, whether small indie games to huge triple-A games, and we’ll take everything up to, like, an R-rated movie or an M-rated game. A GTA game would be fine to us, but Epic’s not going to distribute porn games or bloatware or asset flips, or any sort of thing that’s meant to shock players.”

This is one of the reasons why SJWs love the Epic Games Store so much. Many anime and fan-service games will never see the light day on the storefront, and this is something that they desperately wanted from Steam, to ban anime games and fan-service games that appealed to straight males.

So ultimately you can expect the Epic Games Store to be another carefully curated storefront reminiscent to a PC version of a walled garden you might expect from home consoles. So if you want an experience closer to a home console, stick with the Epic Games Store. If you want your weeb games? You’ll have to look anywhere else other than Epic or Steam.

On the upside, Top Hat Studios is working on their own digital distribution service, and Fakku has been working on their very own download manager to make it convenient to keep track of your digital games.
