Path Of Exile Finally Brings Its Dungeon-Crawling Goodness To PlayStation 4

It’s been a long time coming, but the free-to-play dungeon crawler, Path of Exile, has finally launched for the PlayStation 4 in North America and European territories.

Launched way back in 2013 for the PC and arriving on Xbox One in 2017, this action RPG from Grinding Gear Games has earned a lot of praise over the years for basically taking the Diablo formula and cranking it up to 11. Players run around dungeons from an isometric view, smash the hell out of hordes of baddies and collect loot aplenty. What really sets Path of Exile apart is the fact that, over the years, a metric ton of content has been piled into the game and, on top of all of that, you can play it 100 percent free of charge.

As of today, all of that hacking, slashing and looting finally arrives on the PlayStation 4. The game’s file size is only about 10 GB, but the description on the PlayStation Store states that you should have 15 GB free for the save. Either way, not a huge amount of hard drive real estate compared to the 50 to 100 GB behemoths that keep dropping these days, and Path of Exile is likely to keep you hooked for many, many more hours.

This being a free-to-play game for 1 to 6 players, there are obviously a whole bunch of cosmetic items and resource packs available for purchase with real-world money. At present, there are a collection of Supporter Packs available ranging from $30 on up to $150 dollars. The cheaper “Sunspire Supporter Pack,” for instance, offers a bunch of cosmetic-shop currency, an armor set, a hideout within Sunspire and frames, etc. themed after the Sunspire location.

If you decide to download Path of Exile, you’ll probably want to go ahead and grab the free PlayStation Plus bundle while you’re at it. This pack includes a Fire Frog pet, as well as an Infernal Skull helmet that makes you look like Scorpion preparing for a fatality.
