Arcade Tycoon Heads To Kickstarter Ahead of August Early Access Run

Nigel Moran’s Arcade Tycoon is a retro-themed throwback to the classic Tycoon games that used to be oh-so-popular on PC before they were driven into the ground and buried under corporate espionage, mismanagement, and over-saturation. He’s currently crowdfunding the game over on Kickstarter to the tune of just $1,299.

The game is currently gearing up for an Early Access release on Steam this August, but before launching on Valve’s platform they’re running a Kickstarter to help propagate more content into the game and flesh out the overall simulation aspects. On the Kickstarter page Moran explains…

“We’re a small team of artists and developers. We’ve been working on this project for also two years now, starting as a concept idea from a gaming event that was run by the head of the studio.

“Right now, we hope we can generate more funds so we can put more content into the game, we want to bring the game to a level of quality respectful to the funds that were obtained.”

According to the Kickstarter page, they’re about 70% feature complete, and so the idea is to try to flesh the game out a bit more before it enters into Early Access on Steam this August.

You can get an idea of what the game looks like with the pitch video below, which is put together perfectly, if I must say so myself.

Visually the game takes an old-school approach to the sprite design, with a 16-bit-inspired isometric look.

The core of the design centers around players carving out a space within a venue, giving the floor and walls a makeover, and then filling out the empty space with arcade cabinets, carnival-style games, and even haunted house attractions.

According to the Steam store page, the full game will allow players to have access to over 300 different machines, 20 different campaign levels, five challenge levels, and a sandbox mode.

The Kickstarter has around 24 days to go on the Kickstarter as of the writing of this article. Once the Kickstarter wraps up they’ll prep to release the game on Steam in Early Access starting August. They have plans on spending anywhere between three to six months in Early Access before being completed and graduating from the design phase.
