Cowboy Bebop Netflix Show Casts “Diverse” Leads Much To The Chagrin Of Fans

Whenever a live-action adaptation of an anime is announced the one thing fans do is recoil, and with good reason. The adaptations are almost never properly adherent to the source material, and a bunch of casuals and NPCs go on and about how Hollywood can’t adapt the source material for one reason or another, and that they must divert from the original in order to appeal to a “broader audience”, which actually 100% of the time results in the movie or show or project failing. Well, Netflix is trying its hand at adapting Cowboy Bebop into a live-action show starring John Cho and a “diverse” cast, much to the chagrin of actual fans.

The news comes courtesy of the brief synopsis over on the official Netflix entry, which describes the general plot as follows…

“A ragtag crew of bounty hunters chases down the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll save the world … for the right price. A live-action series.”

This is followed by a main cast credit roll call, which includes: John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafar Shakir as Jet, Danielle Pineda as Faye Valentine, and Alex Hassell as Vicious. In typical Netflix fashion the only white actor in a major role within the show is the villain.

Cho is probably most famous for his comedic roles in Harold & Kumar, and his supporting role in the recent Star Trek films. Mustafar was featured in Netflix’s Luke Cage series, and you might remember Danielle Pineda from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as the woke actress who broadcast how much of a lesbian her character was in the film.

Variety posted up a collage of the main actors, as well as noted that the original creator of Cowboy Bebop, Shinichiro Watanabe, will work as a consultant on the project.

Twitter’s Left-wing faction and the typical Social Justice Warriors were gleefully happy about the news, with various activist blogs praising the diversity of the show.

SJW cesspits were quick to congratulate Netflix on the show’s “diversity”, which is typically code word in SJW circles for anything promoting the exclusion of straight, white males as the lead.

The hellhole sections of Twitter filled with blue checkmarks were also sperging out on social media like concert goers prone to epileptic fits while attending a Daft Punk show.

The outlet Pride quoted from those checkmarks who were patting themselves on the back and masturbating their egos in front of their plebeian followers like the monarchs of degeneracy that they are. Pride wrote…

“Considering all the whitewashing that has been done to Western versions of some of the most beloved anime titles (*cough* Ghost in the Shell *cough*), a lot of viewers were expecting the worst when it came to who would play the motley crew of bountry hunters traveling space and hunting down bad guys.

 

“But with Netflix’s formal announcement that actors John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, Danielle Pineda, and Alex Hassell would be joining the main cast, many fans were relieved that this project would be free of any whitewashing controversy. And they let their feelings be known on the interwebs.”

For context, back in December of 2018 SJW media outlets were languishing over the potential “whitewashing” of the cast in Netflix’s upcoming show, hoping that it mirrored the race-swapping in projects like Death Note or the upcoming The Witcher, both of which took a lot of liberties with swapping around the races of some of the main characters.

While these same outlets and blue checkmark journalists are praising the Netflix project’s “diversity”, fans are anything but excited.

If you check outlets where normal people are still able to leave comments, like NicheGamer, you’ll see that they’re quite perturbed and disgruntled at the news, due to Netflix’s tendency to put their SJW politics ahead of coherent and believable storytelling.



The conversation was the same on social media. The peons of entertainment – the consumers of the religion of wokeness that the creators keep putting out – were none too pleased with the news.

Plenty of people took the woke media to task in the comment section for praising Netflix’s woke adaptation of the Japanese animated classic.

Typical Leftist-propagandists like Jesse Cox were quick to promote the Netflix series, like some sort of an automaton running on a script. Thankfully not all of his followers adapted NPC programming like him, rebuffing his advances to get them to drink the agitprop-laced Kool-Aid.

When asked by anime outlets what they thought of the casting, real fans expressed being overwhelmed with displeasure like Zac Efron was overwhelmed by cocaine.

It appears that most people recognize that Netflix has failed to deliver on previous promises, and with many of their adaptations you have to wade through cringe-inducing propaganda to sink your mind into whatever story they’re trying to tell. It’s jarring and creates a disconnected experience from the immersion of the fictional world they’re trying to portray.

Of course, since majority of the media is converged, they will continue to try to force-feed people the idea that their “diversity”-washed adaptations are highly liked and well received. This is far from the truth. The blue checkmarks that dominate social media and stand at the forefront of subversion will try to convince their followers to follow in line, but people have been spurned too many times by Netflix’s agenda to not see the writing on the wall this time around. The only question is, will enough fans “nope” out of the experience to make the creators of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop recognize that getting woke only earns them the achievement of going broke?
