A+ Games and Arc System Works released a new trailer for Kill La Kill: IF. The six and a half minute promo piece breaks down all of the game’s major selling points, including the 10 different characters you can play, the different stages, the combat mechanics, and more. The game is set to release on the Nintendo Switch and PS4 starting July 25th.
The roster includes the two main characters, Ryuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryuin. You’ll also be able to play as Ira Gamagoori, Uzu Sanageyama, Nonon Jakuzure, Ragyo Kiryuin, Nui Harime, and Houka Inumuta.
As noted by Siliconera, the other characters joining the roster are Mako Mankanshoku and Ultimate Double Naked DTR, who will be available as post-release DLC… available for free, of course.
You can see what the new gameplay is like with the trailer below.
The innuendo-filled trailer outlines the basic premise of the game, as well as the modes, including the Story Mode, where you’ll play through the events of the anime. There will apparently be new scenarios as well, penned by Kazuki Nakashima, the original author of Kill La Kill.
What’s new here is that they reveal that the story mode will have more than just the standard one-on-one fights. Sometimes you’ll have to fight multiple opponents in a sort of beat-’em-up or hack-and-slash style encounter, not unlike Senran Kagura.
In addition to the Story Mode, there’s also the Practice Mode where you can learn how to make use of each character’s skills and fighting abilities; and there’s a Covers Challenge where you’ll need to take on a horde of enemies with a limited amount of time.
Some of the miscellaneous modes includes the Digital Figure mode, where you can pose the characters and take snapshots, or the Battle Replay mode where you can rewatch your saved fights. And there’s a Gallery Mode where you can listen to the game’s audio and music.
And finally there’s a multiplayer online mode, where you can battle against other players in casual and ranked modes. Additionally you can download the replays from other opponents to check out their play-style and learn how to counteract their technique. The player created sessions allows you to invite who you want to your room so you can play at your own leisure.
There are also some additional things like special illustrations from Sushio and the soundtrack being included in the limited collector’s editions. You can look for the game to launch on July 25th, 2019 uncensored for Nintendo Switch and PS4.
