Netflix is a Left-leaning propaganda peddling streaming service. We’ve covered a lot of their Liberal SJW agitprop multiple times over, from deliberately race-swapping characters in the upcoming Witcher TV show to pushing drag onto little kids, Netflix has no qualms about courting degeneracy and Social Justice Warrior antics. Well, their latest foray into the sociopolitical cesspit was a public service announcement on Twitter telling people to stop calling films “chick flicks”. I kid you not. This is as real as Charlie Sheen’s drug addiction.
On April 15th, 2019 Netflix Film, the Twitter arm of Netflix that specifically promotes the streaming service’s film selection, shared a lengthy diatribe about gender roles, identity politics, and sexism via a PSA about “chick flicks”.
Over the course of multiple tweets, the Netflix account wrote…
“For starters, “chick flicks” are traditionally synonymous with romantic comedies. This suggests that women are the only people interested in 1. Romance 2. Comedy. Which I can promise from the men I’ve come across in my life – simply isn’t true.
“There aren’t sweeping categories specific to men. You don’t hear people asking to watch “man movies” – instead, pretty much every intersection of genre is on the table and seen as for men, except of course, the aforementioned rom-coms.
“The term also cheapens the work that goes into making these types of films. Romantic comedies and/or films centered around female leads go through just as much editing, consideration, and rewriting as any other film. And nicknaming films “chick flicks” drives home that there’s something trivial about watching them. But what’s trivial about watching a film that makes you feel 1,000 emotions in ~90 minutes?
“Overall, there’s nothing inherently gendered about liking a light-hearted film with a strong female lead and emotional arc. So next time you call something a “chick flick,” you better be referring to Chicken Run.”
Technically, there are “man movies”. In fact, majority of the films we write about here on this site (with the exception of Star Wars and other horrible propaganda flicks that we mock and ridicule) are “man movies”. Just check out OAG’s movie news, it’s testosterone-fueled action flicks for men. Heck, many of the films in that section are specifically titled to let people know that they’re movies for men!
Thankfully, the harangue was not met with the most welcoming of responses.
No one asked for your opinion, brand account manager. You’re doing more damage to Netflix than anything else.

Can I just give you $12.99/month without the lecture or is that extra?

I can’t wait for Disney+

Fine you’ve convinced me, from now all chick flicks will be known as clam jams.

Twitter users were also keen to shoot back at Netflix, and even go so far as to call out the SJW agenda being peddled at the corporation, even while so many Leftists, Liberals, Centrists™, and Regressives attempt to proclaim that there is no such thing as an “SJW agenda”.
Whatever SJW runs the Netflix twitter account needs to be fired.
Stuff like this and your terrible selection of films/TV is the reason your stocks are plummeting. All hail Amazon and Hulu.

Others told Netflix to get stuffed, along with women telling Netflix to stop telling them what they can and can’t enjoy.
Delete your account.

As a female I think the term chick flicks is adorable and will continue using it with great pleasure. pic.twitter.com/WqOMRGgfx9

It’s just a term. The genre name is: “romantic comedy”. Not “chick flicks”, but there’s nothing wrong with using the term considering it’s mainly us females that enjoy that genre. That’s just the way it is.

The more important issue is for you to stop making these movies cause they’re terrible.

Love you Netflix but maybe we want to own the label. Maybe it empowers us to own it. Like @PLLTVSeries took back the word “bitch”.

Oh good grief, does someone have handbook for all the things that are acceptable and not acceptable to say anymore? I’m starting to lose track…ugh! It’s obviously time to cancel my Netflix subscription. The price hike plus the lectures just make it not worth having.

The Netflix accounts then proceeded to ignore all the feedback and begin conversing among themselves like James McAvoy in Split, displaying some kind of corporate neurological disorder.
Look, I really agree.

It’s safe to say that most people who were vocal in the comment section were not on board with Netflix’s virtue signaling. But a company determined to push their agitprop front and center for all their followers to see wasn’t going to back down at that point.
In fact, when you look at Netflix shows like Special you begin to see just how far down the well they are when it comes to identity politics. Summit.News published an article on April 15th, 2019 outlining how a promo for the show targets straight, white men.
You can see the ad for yourself below, the segment starts at the 1:37 mark.
Netflix has been pushing the anti-white, anti-straight agenda for some time now. They’re completely and entirely obsessed with hackneyed SJW phrases and talking points, all while carefully curating their line-up to keep pushing for “diversity” and “inclusivity” while excluding normal people.
On the bright side, plenty of people in Netflix’s Twitter threads have shown that they still have some semblance of common sense and moral constitution, which is a sign that not everyone has given themselves over to the propaganda pushed down the throats of Westerners by corporate reprobates.
