NetherRealm is on a woke tour. They’re basically doing and saying everything that Social Justice Warriors could ever want to hear from a company willing to lay politically prostrate in front of the altar of third-wave feminism. They’ve renounced sexy female designs, saying women shouldn’t fight in bikinis (but they’re totally okay with the dudes wearing loincloths); they’ve said that anyone who isn’t accepting of Jax’s “woke” ending in Mortal Kombat 11 isn’t a fan; and now they’ve said that they decided to change the OK-hand sign that Johnny Cage gives in the game because it’s associated with Nazis.
The news comes courtesy of a tweet on April 23rd, 2019 from NetherRealm Studios’ UI artist, Daanish Syed, who was asked by some gamers why Johnny Cage’s”Got ‘Em” game hand-sign was changed, where initially the camera would pan down to Johnny Cage’s belt while he was giving the ‘OK’ hand-sign by his waist. Once you see it he smirks and then punches the camera. You can see what the original gesture looked like before it was changed, courtesy of Caboose.
According to Syed, they modified the gesture to a middle-finger, which they felt was more appropriate, because the ‘OK’ hand-sign is associated with Nazis.

The new gesture is slightly modified where now instead of making the “OK” hand sign down by his left side when the camera tilts to his belt, he now has the “OK” hand sign partially done but instead his hand is turned around so that he’s giving the middle-finger to viewers, because in the mind of NetherRealm Studio and other socially abnormal individuals, a middle-finger is less offensive than the “OK” hand gesture.
You can see what the new modified gesture looks like in the clip below, which was posted up over on the /r/MortalKombat sub-reddit.
This is all part of the SJW agenda to label the sign as “racist”. Regressive Left media outlets picked up on a 4chan joke, which was designed to get the media to fall for the belief that making the sign is a symbol of white supremacy.
Blizzard Entertainment recently banned the “OK” hand-sign from being displayed either by players or by audience members at Overwatch League events.
This kind of lunacy keeps escalating, with things being banned, censored, or removed to placate the fragile sensibilities of the perpetually offended.
Oh… come to think of it… Pepe the frog was considered a symbol of white supremacy, according to the Anti Defamation League. Therefore, if Pepe is turned into a clown with the rainbow colors, this then means that rainbow colors by proxy, are racist. Right? So then, if Pepe the clown is flying rainbow colors that then means that rainbow colors are associated with the Alt-Right.

So now according to Syed if a certain image is associated with Nazism, then it means they have to change it… right? If not, then it means that they’re indirectly supporting Nazis… right?
Following this train of thought to its logical conclusion then means that anyone wearing rainbow colors in Mortal Kombat 11 are mirroring Pepe the clown, and if Pepe the clown is a symbol of white supremacy, then anyone wearing Pepe’s rainbow colors is supporting white supremacy, ergo that means Jacqui Briggs is a white supremacist!
Syed and the rest of the NetherRealm gang are now in a difficult situation. Either they keep Jacqui in her rainbow colored gear – and if we’re to keep using their logic, the rainbow flag is now associated with Nazis so that means Jacqui is a Nazi – or they change it to something else. They can’t have a prominent member of the Alt-Right being featured in the game, now can they?
Isn’t that how their version of representation works? NetherRealm is now promoting Nazism and white supremacy via Jacqui Briggs, who is a sterling iconographic symbol of white supremacy, yes?
I suppose in Clown World this isn’t an impossibility, a young black girl with an LGBTQ jacket being a leader of white supremacists. But given that NetherRealm has already changed the “OK” hand sign due to “Nazis”, I’ll leave the logistics to them to figure out where Jacqui and her rainbow colored jacket fit on the racist stack.
