New Zealand Gun Legislation Banning Semi-Automatic Firearms Set For April 11; Gun Confiscation Underway

The Christchurch, New Zealand shooting was designed to do one thing, according to the shooter’s manifesto: accelerate society down the path to a civil war. The shooter’s impetus for making that happen was to incite governments to crackdown on gun laws in various regions and incite big tech companies to enact widespread censorship that would procedurally sow sociopolitical division and discord until real people lash out and react with real life violence. As if operating to the manifesto’s whims in lockstep, New Zealand is passing legislation to ban semi-automatic firearms across the country, and are currently undertaking a gun confiscation initiative to remove weapons from the homes of citizens.

According to the Straits Times, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden had announced that they would be banning semi-automatic weapons directly after the shooting, and Arden and the rest of Parliament have followed through with a formulation of legislation currently underway as of April 2nd, 2019. The legislation will reportedly be completed and notarized by April 11th, 2019.

The article further states that the New Zealand National Rifle Association is also not lobbying or fighting back against the legislation, and, in fact, they are even looking to change their name in order to distance themselves from America’s own NRA.

But it gets worse.

According to the Daily Wire they’re reporting that on March 21st, 2019 Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that gun confiscation had begun, and that registered gun owners are required to fill out forms and hand over illegally deemed firearms, saying…

“[…] we are asking all current holders of military-style semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles to visit www.police.govt.nz. There they will find details of the weapons included in this ban. In the next 48 hours, a form will be available on this site that we are asking these gun owners to complete, identifying what banned guns they hold. The police will then arrange for these weapons to be handed over, and eventually destroyed. Details of the weapons handed back by owners that are covered by the ban will also be taken to ensure that fair and reasonable compensation is paid once the buyback is in place. If owners are unable to complete the online form, they are able to contact the police on the phone to arrange the handover of these now-banned guns…

“…As the legislation is developed, we will determine the time available for the return of military-style semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles, and the duration of the buyback scheme. I can assure people that there will be time for the returns to be made, and that they will not be criminalized overnight. After a reasonable period for returns, those who continue to possess these guns will be in contravention of the law. Currently, the penalties for this range from fines of up to $4,000 and or three years in prison. The draft legislation will look to increase these penalties.”

This was one of the key plans in the shooter’s manifesto, to escalate tensions through stricter gun legislation, creating a ripple effect that would encourage Democrats and Left-wing media to pressure Americans into legislating stricter gun laws as well.

Like clockwork, various Democrats used Twitter to celebrate New Zealand’s ban on semi-automatic firearms, as chronicled by NRA-ILA.

Other Left-wing media outlets also chimed in to harangue over the matter, with large outfits like Vox and Scientific American posturing to explain the blockades as to why America hasn’t adopted similar legislation, while The Washington Post simply came out and championed the move with a news piece – not an opinion piece or editorial.

It’s at a point now where news organizations are openly pining for the kind of legislation and bans that the shooter desired in order to further his goals of escalation.

New Zealand in particular has been going out of its way to increase regulations and censorship in the region, including arresting people for sharing or discussing the contents of the shooter’s manifesto all while selling it from the OFLC website for $102.

The ripple effect from his actions seem to be playing out exactly how he wanted.
