Pewdiepie Bows To Media Pressure, Disavows ‘Subscribe To Pewdiepie’ Meme

Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, best known as “PewDiePie”, called for an end to the “Subscribe to PewDiePie” meme. After the pressure from the media blaming him for the Chritstchurch, New Zealand massacre, PewDiePie decided to disavow the meme to placate the media who put his name at the center of the shooting.

The news comes courtesy of a near four-minute video where PewDiePie thanks his fans for support, but then renounces the people who spray painted the “Subscribe to PewDiePie” on a war memorial, and then further condemned the Christchurch shooter for saying “Subscribe to PewDiePie” before he went and shot up a mosque.

The video was posted on April 28th, 2019.

With a look of defeat in his eyes and somberness laced throughout every word, PewDiePie explains…

“Subscribe to PewDiePie thing would not be complete without mentioning T-Series. I made two diss-tracks that were made in fun, ironic jests. They were not meant to be taken seriously. And now high court in India demands that they’re going to be blocked and removed.

“This was all made to be fun, but it’s clearly not fun anymore. It’s clearly gone too far. Out of respect for that I’m gonna keep the videos blocked.

“On a similar note, some people and some media have made this ‘Subscribe to PewDiePie’ thing about race, or about politics, or about nationality. I don’t agree with that at all and I want that to stop. This negative rhetoric is something I don’t agree with at all and I want that to stop, and to make it perfectly clear: No, I’m not racist. I don’t support any kind of racist comments or hate towards anyone.

“Finally, I don’t want hitting 100 million subscribers about beating another channel. I think what we’ve accomplished is so much more than that.”

His fans didn’t seem to mind his secession of integrity toward the media hordes calling for his head, but more rational minded people absolutely did criticize him for giving up on a meme and allowing the Christchurch shooter to gain the upperhand once again.

Simply by mentioning PewDiePie during the livestream of the mosque massacre it gave the media ammo with which to target PewDiePie and blame him for the shooting while simultaneously demanding he be deplatformed. There was also a petition to remove PewDiePie from YouTube because they claimed he was “normalizing white supremacy”, something that has been echoed by media outlets for the past couple of years.

For example, TechCrunch ran an article back on September 11th, 2017 titled “PewDiePie, the world’s most popular YouTuber, is back making more racist comments”.

Wired penned a piece back on February 16th, 2017 titled “PewDiePie’s Fall Shows The Limits of ‘LOL JK’”, where it paints him as an enabler of racism.

That all kicked off due to a piece by the Wall Street Journal who attempted to smear PewDiePie as a racist back in early February of 2017. Since then it’s been a nonstop barrage of media outlets looking for every little thing in which to paint a wide sweeping brush of racist behavior across the PewDiePie brand.

Even mainstream outlets like the New York Times worked fast to get in on the dogpile following the ChristChurch shooting. They were just one of many outlets to quickly publish a piece on March 15th, 2019 directly after the events happened to tie the YouTuber’s “Subscribe to PewDiePie” meme to the New Zealand shooting.

That’s just a very small sampling of the many attacks that have been lobbed at PewDiePie from small, medium, and large media outlets.

What’s so sad about this is that PewDiePie is conceding to the shooter’s whims; giving up his own meme just because someone used it in a violent attack.

It’s similar to how people are banning the “OK” hand sign because they claim that it’s “racist” and co-opted by

PewDiePie has now bought into the fake news media that has been slandering, libeling, and defaming him for the last couple of years, and bending the knee to the co-opted Overton Window, which is now controlled chiefly by Regressive Leftists.

But it doesn’t end here. PewDiePie is not off the hook.

The media and his detractors will continue to denigrate him every chance they get. They will continue to take inches until they control miles. They will not cede anything, but they will demand that their opposition accede to all their demands. They will not relent, nor will they back down, but they will take and they will usurp at every opportunity through every opening they’re given. Heck, like clockwork, GamerGhazi is  already demanding PewDiePie do MORE to censor his community and conduct.

Giving up the “Subscribe to PewDiePie” meme as a concession is a hollow victory for anyone who thinks this will make things easier for PewDiePie or his fans. Worse yet, it continues to give power to those who wish to take, and take, and take some more because they can.

How long will it be before everything you love and enjoy is given over to censorship because the Regressive Left have labeled it as “harmful”, “hateful”, “toxic”, or “problematic”? And at one point do people say enough is enough?

Just remember, the freedoms you’re willing to give up are the freedoms you don’t deserve.
