SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy Sold Over 300,000 Copies, Proving There’s Still A Place In Gaming For Boner Culture

Even though Sony has been clamping down on fan-service games and forcing developers to censor their titles, SNK managed to slip SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy out onto the market for the Nintendo Switch and PS4 to a lot of positive feedback from gamers. Following the release on Steam back in late February of 2019, reports are now going around that SNK has managed to make some strong bank on the game after it moved 300,000 copies worldwide.

According to Go Nintendo, SNK Corporation’s chairman, Ge Zhihui, confirmed the news about the sales data, noting that since the game’s release back on September 7th, 2018 they managed to move 300,000 units across multiple platforms. Since the game never breached the 20,000 mark on Steam, according to SteamSpy, we can safely assume the majority of those sales took place across the Nintendo Switch and PS4.

The game didn’t have the easiest time on the market, though. Plenty of the larger outlets either skimmed over the game or found themselves docking points because the lovely ladies featured in the game were too sexy. And no, that’s not fake news. Critical Hit ended up docking points off the total score for the game’s review because it was too sexy and featured “large-breasted anime-styled depictions of women”.

However, even with the regressive gatekeepers trying to keep gamers from embracing the warm bosom of fun, gamers overcame those obstructions and purchased SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy anyway.

SNK didn’t say if they had anything else planned for the series right now, but they’re currently working on two new Metal Slug games, one of which will be made for mobile devices while the other will be for home consoles. They also have Samurai Shodown due to drop on June 27th for PS4 and this winter for PC and Nintendo Switch.

In the end it looks like fan-service managed to win out over all the prudes trying to oppress gamers and keep fun locked up in a pen. It appears as if SNK is recognizing that the way to profit is through a gamer’s wallet, and the best way to get that wallet to open up is to embrace Boner Culture.
