Days Gone Reportedly Sits At The Top Of The U.K. Charts, Japanese Charts, And PlayStation Store

It looks like Days Gone by Bend Studio is doing well. Despite game journos losing their mind over the chart-topping game in question, it looks like folks are disregarding major review outlets and enjoying Days Gone according to reports.

It was said a while back that Days Gone would die out because it features tropes such as zombies, an open world, and a straight white male. Contrary to that pessimistic narrative, Bend Studio’s work seems to be topping charts according to the U.K. charts, Famitsu, and PlayStation Store.

Website ukie.org.uk relays that it’s another “quiet week” meaning the top six games remain unchanged with Days Gone sitting at the top spot even when a new Switch version of the controversial Mortal Kombat 11 appeared. You can see last week (left) and this week’s (right) title positions below:

  • 1 | 1 – DAYS GONE: PEGI 18+ — SONY COMPUTER ENT.
  • 2 | 2 – MORTAL KOMBAT 11: PEGI 18+ — WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE
  • 3 | 3 – FIFA 19: PEGI 3+ — EA SPORTS
  • 4 | 4 – RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2: PEGI 18+ — ROCKSTAR
  • 5 | 5 – GRAND THEFT AUTO V: PEGI 18+ — ROCKSTAR
  • 6 | 6 – MARIO KART 8 DELUXE: PEGI 3+ — NINTENDO
  • 8 | 7 – TOM CLANCY’S THE DIVISION 2: PEGI 18+ — UBISOFT
  • 7 | 8 – NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. U DELUXE: PEGI 3+ — NINTENDO
  • 9 | 9 – FORZA HORIZON 4: PEGI 3+ — MICROSOFT
  • 11 | 10 – SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE: PEGI 12+ — NINTENDO

Furthermore, while “game” journos and their reviews tell a morbid story for Days Gone, it looks like Famitsu tells another story. Website gematsu.com depicts the game lambasted by GameSpot at the top of the (software sales) chart. In case you don’t know, digital sales are as followed by lifetime sales:

Last but not least, the official PlayStation account reports that Days Gone is voted the best game of April by PS Blog readers, which Bend Studio applauded with beers:

The tweet is followed by an official post on the blog.eu.playstation.com about Days Gone being the best selling game on the PlayStation Store as of April 2019:

  • Days Gone (New)
  • Grand Theft Auto V (2)
  • World War Z (New)
  • Mortal Kombat 11 (New)
  • The Crew 2 (RE)
  • Far Cry 5 (RE)
  • FIFA 19 (4)
  • Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition (RE)
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (RE)
  • Minecraft (10)

Well, it looks like not many people are taking heed to mainstream media reviews given that Days Gone is doing the opposite of how the game was portrayed in the Telegraph, Digital Trends, GameSpot, Variety, and The Daily Dot reviews.
