Mary Skelter 2 Heading Uncensored To The West For Nintendo Switch
Mary Skelter 2 Nintendo Switch

Idea Factory International recently announced that Mary Skelter 2 is heading to the West for the Nintendo Switch, this comes after Idea Factory announced back in March that the game would be heading to the Switch in Japan. The game will release with all of the content that it originally contained when it released in Japan for the PS4 back in 2018.

According to Siliconera, gamers in the West will be able to get their hands on the game without any of the content being cut, meaning that it will be uncensored on the Switch when it arrives on the Nintendo eShop. In the article it states…

“According to IF International, the game will come complete with the features present in the Japanese version, including the full Mary Skelter: Nightmares which has been remade using the systems and balancing from the second game. The game will feature English and Japanese dual audio, as well as English subtitles.”

Idea Factory International confirmed that the game will be available both in America and Europe.

The news was accompanied by some information and wallpapers over on the official Mary Skelter 2 website.

It reveals that the digital release of Mary Skelter 2 will be bundled in with the original Mary Skelter: Nightmares that has been remade and remastered with all the improvements from the second game.

You’ll be able to play through the original game where the main characters Otsuu and Little Mermaid attempt to rescue Alice and Jack while trekking through the horror-filled towers known as The Jail.

Otsuu and Little Mermaid manage to rescue Jack, but he ends up becoming a Nightmare, and so in the sequel players will have Jack on the team who can make use of his Nightmare ability but at the risk of succumbing to madness. It’s a risk/reward system.

The game sports turn-based combat, improved combat, new jail roulette, and adjusted dungeon sizes.

One of the things they don’t explicitly talk about is the Purification system, which is what got the game in trouble with Sony when it released in Hong Kong. The Purification system was apparently deemed too much for Sony, and it was hit with their censorship policies.

However, the post-release patch ended up breaking the game for Chinese players. You can check out what the Purification system looks like in the video below courtesy of Anime News Official.

However, we at least know that the Purification system is in the game and that it’s attached to the Switch’s HD Rumble feature since Idea Factory released a promotional image for the game where one of the maidens was covered in goop and they advertised the HD Rumble support. So it seems like the Purification system will definitely make it into the game, Idea Factory is likely just withholding details on that aspect of the game until they drop the inevitable trailer.

The good news is that both American and European gamers will be able to get their hands on the game when it finally launches in the West. It looks like some publishers are finally learning to abandon Sony and stick with Nintendo knowing that the PS4 censorship policies are only there to inhibit their creative freedoms and ruin all the fun for gamers.
