From skimpy female outfits to gigantic yōkai, Nioh 2 gameplay has surfaced showing off various in-game actions. The alpha test that started on May 24th (ending on June 2nd, 2019) is available only for PS4 players, which is where the latest character customization and boss fight videos derive from.
Team Ninja sent out a tweet stating that some PS4 users are invited to take part in the Nioh 2 closed alpha test to help gather feedback. Well, it looks like a lot of people are testing the alpha build of the game as we speak.
As of now, the character creator is limited, meaning not much can be changed about the characters in the game. However, options like Base, Face, Hair, Facial Hair, Makeup/Scars, Body, Voice, Yōkai Form, and Randomize are in the game, but only a few of those can be altered. In Base, you can pick your gender (only two), presets, posture, skin, and age.
In the character creator, you can boot up your save/load settings, change the background from morning to night (to see how your character looks in different lighting), change your character outfit(s), and enter/confirm a password related to said settings.
Aside from a barely clothed female Sumeria prancing around demon infested feudal Japan, you can see two of the game’s bosses in action. The first boss is Enenra, which is a yōkai that is composed of smoke and darkness — reportedly first featured in the Konjaku Hyakki Shūi, circa 1781.
The video showing Enenra comes in by YouTuber MKIceAndFire:
The second boss fight that comes from the same YouTuber reveals Yatsu-No-Kami front and center. The giant reptilian will be in the game as a boss and seems like a formidable opponent:
It’s worth noting that all of the above footage remains to be alpha gameplay. In other words, all of the above is subject to change, which includes clothing and character creation, etc.
Nioh 2 is currently in development, and its current alpha test will end on June 2nd, 2019. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have not revealed platforms yet.
